The E-6 Mercury was the command and control center where ground forces along with aircraft are managed. It was given the codename “The Looking Glass” because it has the capability of mirroring the Global Operations Center when it comes to controlling nuclear forces. Primarily used by the US Navy, this airplane made its first flight in 1987 and was introduced in 1989. Only 16 units of this aircraft were built since its launch. Most of the units have been upgraded to handle nuclear strike capabilities.
