Mosquito "Cookie Bomber"
Wingspan: 12 inches
Length: 9.8 inches
The de Havilland Mosquito was one of the most legendary and successful planes of the World War II. It was entirely made of wood, hence its nickname “The Wooden Wonder.” This plane was initially built to be an unarmed high-speed bomber but was later modified to be a fighter aircraft that could operate any time of the day. The first Mosquito flew in November 1940, went into production a year after, and was introduced soon after that. Considered as a true multi-role aircraft, the DH.98 Mosquito Bomber has successfully carried out a number of roles including being an anti-ship platform, an interceptor, a photoreconnaissance plane, and a fighter bomber. One of the Mosquito’s significant missions was being a night fighter and providing an intruder support for the heavy bombers of RAF Bomber Command. It also served the Royal Air Force as well as other air forces in the Italian, European, and Mediterranean theaters.
