F4 Phanthom II "Jolly Rogers"
Wingspan: 7.4 inches
Length: 12 inches
Making its debut on May 1958, the F-4 Phantom II was a supersonic jet interceptor that served as an air superiority fighter plane for the US Navy and Army. Unlike other fighter planes, the F-4 looked anything but fierce. With its drooped nose and cranked wings, the aircraft earned the moniker “Double Ugly”, a name that stuck for some time, long after the aircraft has earned numerous victories. Despite its unsightly appearance, the F-4 plane was considered one of the best aircrafts in the jet age. Able to carry 18,000 pounds of different weapons, this jet interceptor was widely used during the Vietnam War. In fact, it became the primary fighter for the US Air Force and the US Navy.
