The Consolidated B-24 Liberator is a heavy bomber plane that was designed by Consolidated Aircraft, a company located in San Diego, California. Its primary users include United States Army Air Forces, United States Navy, Royal Air Force in WW2 and Royal Canadian Air Force. Although often compared to the popular Boeing B17 Flying Fortress, the B 24 Liberator Bomber proved to be more modern in terms of design and capable of better speed and range. It even exceeded the former aircraft when it comes to bomb load. The name “Liberator” that is tied to this heavy bomber was the original name used by the RAF. The USAAF later adopted this name and thus it became the official name for this aircraft model. B-24 liberators were known for their precision-guided weaponry.
