The North American Aviation P-51 Mustang is a fighter airplane designed and built according to the specifications of the British Purchasing Commission. During World War II, pilots of Mustang P 51 Model claim that they were able to conquer enemies and shot down almost five thousand enemy aircrafts. P stands for “pursuit”. This letter was later changed to F, which stands for “fighter”. The F-6Ds in particular were dubbed as “The Flying Undertaker”. The glory of the P 51 Mustang plane will later be carried over the Korean War where these were used for ground attack. Fitted with rockets and bombs coupled with photoreconnaissance, which made gathering information about enemy territory easier for the military made the Mustang's highly valuable during the war.
