The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt is recognizable is any history book because this was not only the largest and heaviest aircraft to run on a single piston engine. This too was the most expensive among its kind. The P-47 was designed by Alexander Kartveli, a Georgian immigrant. This weighs at eight tons when fully loaded with rockets. This was built with eight machine guns on its wings, truly a fighter aircraft. The United States Army Air Force (USAAF) used the Republic P-47 as a main aircraft fighter during the World War II and this was also used by other countries like France, Russia and Britain. The Thunderbolt aircraft was specifically useful for short to medium range air combat.
This handcrafted model is painted in the same paint scheme as the original and is painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by our skilled craftsmen. Perfect as a gift for any aviation enthusiast and history buff!
