Mastercraft Collection: P-40E Flying Tigers..
Wingspan: 12 inches
Length: 10.2 inches
The first officially known American volunteer group were called the Flying Tigers. They were a unit for the Chinese Air Force. The members consisted of pilots who came from the Navy (USN), United States Army (USAAF) and the Marine Corps (USMC). These volunteers used P-40 Flying Tigers for combat. A P 40 Flying Tiger has the agility needed for a pilot to do well in a low altitude combat. It was designed for easy maintenance and has the characteristics to withstand any type of climate. During the time of its production, P40s engines were not impressive compared to other air fighters. These were later upgraded in newer models such as that of the P40E where engines became more powerful.
This handcrafted model is painted in the same paint scheme as the original and is painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by our skilled craftsmen. Perfect as a gift for any aviation enthusiast and history buff!
