The P-3C Orion military aircraft is a maritime patrol aircraft manufactured by Lockheed-Martin for the United States Navy in 1960’s. The P-3 Navy was powered by four turboprop engines and manned by 11 crew members on board. The P-3C Orion made history with a speed record for turboprop-powered planes of 501 miles in 1971. It is used as reconnaissance aircraft particularly to detect submarine in the sea via its very distinct “Stinger” tail. It was equipped with state-of-the-art radar capable of maritime surveillance. The Navy P-3 is currently operated by some foreign countries since its first introduction including the Argentine Naval Aviation, Royal Australian Air Force, Brazilian Air Force, Royal Canadian Air Force, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, Royal New Zealand Air Force and many more. also makes an excellent gift to fellow aviation enthusiast.
