The L-1049 Super Constellation "Connie" is an American aircraft, a member of the Lockheed Constellation aircraft line. The Constellation family was propeller-driven airliners built by Lockheed between 1943 and 1958. A total of 856 aircraft were produced in numerous models, all distinguished by a triple-tail design and dolphin-shaped fuselage. The L-1049 was Lockheed's response to the successful Douglas DC-6 airliner, first flying in 1950. The aircraft was also produced for both the United States Navy and Air Force as transport and AWACS aircraft. This specific model is painted in the TWA paint scheme. Eastern Airlines was a major United States airline that existed from 1926 to 1991.
