The P-51 Mustang was one of the most effective planes of World War II. The P-51 Mustang gave the bombers of US 8th Air Force the fighter cover it so desperately needed over occupied Europe and thus greatly assisted the bombing campaign against Nazi Germany in World War II.
From design to manufacturing, North American completed the 1941 P-51 project in just 117 days. The Mustang bomber went on to become WWII's fastest and farthest flying aircraft. The metal included with this print is from a P-51 Mustang that was delivered to USAAF as 44-72922 in 1944. It was allocated to the 479th FG/434th FS/8th AF. This plane flew as Scat/VII/L2-W by Major Robin Olds.
Our sincerest mission for our limited edition presentations is to inspire a greater appreciation of US military history and the sacrifices of our veterans. This is a truly special commemorative piece that we hope you treasure for years to come.
