Product Details

The C-133 Cargomaster came as a response to the US Air ForceÕs SS402L Logistic Carrier Support system that called for a new strategic aircraft. An interesting feat of the Cargomaster was that no prototypes were built for it. Thanks to its sound specs, good performance, and perhaps the USÕ sense of immediacy, the C-133 went directly into production. The first plane, a C-133A, was flown on April 1956; and the first batch was immediately delivered to Military Air Transport Service on August 1957. Douglas Aircraft, however, treated the C-133As and Bs as test planes, which perhaps wasnÕt something the pilots then needed to know. But despite its rush development, the C-133 had quite the performance and record to boast. True to its name, the Cargomaster had numerous accomplishments when it came to military transport. Among them was the flight in 1959. This saw the aircraft had actually set the record for the longest continuous flight of 5,150 miles covered in roughly 17 hours.

This handcrafted model is painted in the same paint scheme as the original and is painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by our skilled craftsmen. Perfect as a gift for any aviation enthusiast and history buff!
