Mastercraft Collection: Spitfire Mk IX,Raf..
Wingspan: 12 inches
Length: 9.9 inches
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk IX was a temporary solution to the Focke-Wulf FW190AÕs appearance. The first alternative solution was the Spitfire model Mk VIII, but the aircraft was taking too much time to produce because of its redesign. The Mk IXÕs fuselage was slightly modified, but the same engines from the Mk VIII were used. This paved way to a faster production and development of the new aircraft. This refurbished Spitfire variant can fly up to 409 mph and climb at 4,000 feet per minute. Most for the Mk IX were outfitted with ÒcÓ wings, but later produced beginning 1944 sported ÒeÓ wings. This Royal Air Force (RAF) aircraft remained in service until the end of World War II.
This handcrafted model is painted in the same paint scheme as the original and is painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by our skilled craftsmen. Perfect as a gift for any aviation enthusiast and history buff!
