Product Details

The Lockheed Vega was a single-seat monoplane built by Lockheed Aircraft Limited in 1920s. The aircraft was designed by Gerard Vaultee and John Knudsen Northrop. Amelia Earhart flew a scarlet version of the Lockheed Vega and set out a world record to be the very first woman aviator to single-handedly fly across the Atlantic Ocean. This feat earned Earhart several notable distinctions. Powered by a single radial engine, the Lockheed Vega can fly at a maximum speed of 185mph. This monoplane was modified a few times and was used for both commercial and military purposes. There were a total of 132 units built with only 6 surviving monoplanes on display.

This handcrafted model is painted in the same paint scheme as the original and is painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by our skilled craftsmen. Perfect as a gift for any aviation enthusiast and history buff!
