The PBJ-1 Mitchell is yet another version of the renowned B25 Mitchell series. The PBJ-1 was a version produced for the Navy and functioned primarily as a medium bomber plane. It was mainly employed by the Marine Bombing Squadron Six-Eleven. The aircraft, as expected, was something that performed excellently especially during the war. Aside from having good maneuverability and agility, the plane was considerably versatile and easy to use compared to its contemporaries. The PBJ-1 was powered by two Wright R-2600-13 Double Cyclones. It had a maximum speed of 284mph, a top range of 1,303 nautical miles, and a service ceiling of 21,200ft. Its basic firepower was twelve .50 caliber machine guns, but most models, such as the PBJ-1D, can also carry a considerable load of bombs, 5-inch rockets, or even an aerial torpedo.
This handcrafted model is painted in the same paint scheme as the original and is painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by our skilled craftsmen. Perfect as a gift for any aviation enthusiast and history buff!
