Mastercraft Collection: P-38G LIGHTNING..
Wingspan: 12.5 inches
Length: 9 inches
Built by Lockheed to meet the requirements of the United States Army Air Corps, the P-38G Lightning was distinctly designed with twin booms and a central nacelle where the cockpit and armament can be found. This fighter aircraft was seen in many theaters of war, including the Pacific, where it carried out one of its most significant operations—the interception of Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto. Although this P38 Lighting variant could not overcome Japanese fighter planes when it comes to low-altitude flights, the Miss Virginia aircraft had a more powerful firepower that enabled US ace pilot Dick Bong claim 40 victories with the P-38G. The aircraft regrettably had its final flight sometime in 1943 when it crashed at the Pacific.
This handcrafted model is painted in the same paint scheme as the original and is painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by our skilled craftsmen. Perfect as a gift for any aviation enthusiast and history buff!
