The Heinkel HE 219, also known as Eagle Owl, was a German aircraft designed to become a night fighter. It had various innovations that could have made it a very effective aircraft, but due to its limited production, only a few were able to see combat. This night fighter was the very first of its kind to have automatic ejection seats and the first German military aircraft with a tricycle landing gear. It also had advanced VHF-band intercept radar, which was used to intercept radar devices. This aircraft would have contributed to the defeat of the Royal Air Force if mass production was made, but only 294 units were created before the end of World War II.
