The ME-109 Messerschmitt was an award-winning fighter plane designed by Willy Messerschmitt and Robert Lusser for the Luftwaffe in 1930Ős. Built with a lightweight but very modern construction during that period, the Bf 109 Messerschmitt featured a number of innovative design including a closed canopy cockpit, all-metal body, retractable landing gear and liquid-cooled, inverted piston engine. Many Luftwaffe ace pilots won many victories with the ME-109 Messerschmitt, perhaps the most kills over any other aircraft in World War II history. BF 109 Messerschmitt aircraft was flown through the course of World War II and was at par with its contemporary Allied fighter airplanes.
