Mastercraft Collection: F4 Phanthom II "Sundowners"..
Wingspan: 7.4 inches
Length: 12 inches
The F-4 Phantom II was initially designed as an all-weather attack platform powered by twin Wright J65 turbojet engines, an armament suite of four 20mm cannons, and a seat for a single pilot. It gained traction as a replacement for the F3H Demon series of the US Navy, and production continued from there. The US Navy then converted the AH-1 into an all-missile fighter and re-designated it the F4H Phantom II. This version has been often considered as a pre-production version of the main aircraft series, which led up to the first operational production variations referred to as the F-4B model series. The F-4 Phantom II is the very first aircraft to serve concurrently in the three major military branches of the United States—the Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps.
