The De Havilland Otter is the military version of the De Havilland DHC-6. One of its main differences is its optional float and ski fittings. An all-weather aircraft, the De Havilland Otter superseded the DHC-3 and was used by airlines in Alaska and other areas with short or rough runways. It has crew and passenger oxygen systems and a navigation and communications package. The aircraft made its maiden voyage in 1965, achieving a cruise speed of 150 knots and a range of 700 miles, with a service ceiling of 25,000 feet. The De Havilland Otter provided airlift support for the US Air Force Academy cadet parachuting program. When it reached the end of production in 1988, a total of 844 aircraft were developed for both military and commercial customers.
This handcrafted model is painted in the same paint scheme as the original and is painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by our skilled craftsmen. Perfect as a gift for any aviation enthusiast and history buff!
