Product Details

The Bell X-2 was a research aircraft made specifically for exploring Mach 2 and 3 flight characteristics. Also called Starbuster (albeit seldom), this joint project of the United States Air Force and National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics was developed for seeking ways in improving speed and altitude of the X-1 series. Powered by a single rocket-type engine and manned by a single crew, the StarbusterÕs development was rather a lengthy one since the technology needed to make the X-2 happen wasnÕt available yet at that time. With two units built, the X-2 research aircraft established the use of digital flight simulation and throttleable rocket motors. The Starbuster retired from service in 1956.

This handcrafted model is painted in the same paint scheme as the original and is painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by our skilled craftsmen. Perfect as a gift for any aviation enthusiast and history buff!
