Mastercraft Collection: P-61 Black Widow..
Wingspan: 12 inches
Length: 9 inches
Seldom can an aircraft hunt down enemy planes at night and in bad weather, but the P-61 Black Widow can function in both environments with ease. Operating in total darkness, the Black Widow acts furtively much like its animal namesake, bringing down its enemies when they least expect it. An iconic aircraft with its twin boom engines, the Black Widow was introduced during World War II and served in the Pacific, Mediterranean, and Southeast Asian Theaters. Although this flying machine had been credited with several kills and proved superior against German enemy aircraft, the Black Widow became endangered as the final months of World War II loomed in. Its lack of external fuel tanks and bomb loads incapacitated the Black Widow from extending its range and defeating on-ground enemies. While the aircraft had gone through modifications for its dearth, the Black Widow wasnÕt able to make the same impact it did during the war.
This handcrafted model is painted in the same paint scheme as the original and is painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by our skilled craftsmen. Perfect as a gift for any aviation enthusiast and history buff!
