Mastercraft Collection: Fokker Dr.1 Red Barron..
Wingspan: 12 inches
Length: 9.8 inches
Considered as GermanyÕs most famous World War I fighter aircraft, the Fokker Dr I is one tiny yet robust aircraft to ever fly. Created as a response to the British Sopwith plane, the Fokker triplane had exceptional rate of climb and maneuverability that left Allied pilots astonished by this diminutive aircraft. However, the aircraftÕs poor workmanship led to a series of crashes, but this was soon rectified, and the Fokker aircraft continued to soar into the skies. Albeit slow compared to contemporary aircraft of the old, the Fokker airplane was nonetheless instrumental in bringing victory to Germany through the headship of Baron Manfred von Richthofen, the German ace pilot who achieved 80 victories during the war flying the Dr I aircraft.
