During the Korean War, the need for better aircraft with high subsonic performance capability and added feature of flying greater heights prompted Grumman Aerospace to build the A-6 Intruder. The Intruder was outfitted with a split aileron on its wings, which provided the aircraft with excellent roll control. The aircraft was also equipped with modern avionics suite, navigational computer and airborne radar set, making the Intruder was one powerful aircraft in the military inventory. Able to penetrate enemy territory and deliver target hits in varied weather conditions, the A-6E was also used in Libya during a strike against terrorists.
This handcrafted model is painted in the same paint scheme as the original and is painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by our skilled craftsmen. Perfect as a gift for any aviation enthusiast and history buff!
