The ruggedly built Skyhawk A-4 was a light fighter and attack aircraft manufactured by the Douglas Aircraft Company. Also known by its nickname ŇHeinemannŐs RodÓ (a tribute to its designer, Ed Heinemann), the A-4 packs exceptional range, speed, and firepower in one small airframe. Heinemann surprised the Navy by conceiving an aircraft half the size of its operatorŐs specifications. The aircraftŐs diminutive design allowed it to be stowed in carriers without the need for folding its delta wings. Despite its seemingly puny appearance, the A-4F Skyhawk could create massive damage to enemy forces, thanks to its assortment of ammunition. It was also capable of delivering nuclear weapons with the use of a low altitude technique. This fighter aircraft has seen historical events like the Vietnam War, FalklandŐs War and the Yom Kippur War. Since its inception, almost 3,000 of the units produced are still in service in air arms as of this day.
This handcrafted model is painted in the same paint scheme as the original and is painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by our skilled craftsmen. Perfect as a gift for any aviation enthusiast and history buff!
